About Us
Mama-Care-Ghana Organization (MMCGO) is a non-profit entity founded in 1997, dedicated to empowering women and promoting their rights, dignity, health, and livelihoods. Operating primarily in the Northern Volta and Northern Regions of Ghana, MMCGO focuses on marginalized communities through participatory initiatives and sensitization programs.
The organization prioritizes women’s self-help groups and local structures to enhance living conditions and foster empowerment. It champions women’s education, health, livelihoods, and social security, envisioning a society where women thrive with equal opportunities. Annually, MMCGO impacts over 600 women, with 490 reporting significant improvements in capacity, livelihoods, and decision-making.
Legally established in 1997, MMCGO is registered with Ghana’s Non-Profit Organisation Secretariat and the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection.
Our Projects
Training of untrained but practicing traditional birth attendants
2004-2016 (the organization trained about 1, 850 practicing but untrained traditional birth attendants in the Volta Region and Northern Regions respectively) The project aim is to improve maternal and child health care at the community grassroots level.

Training Of Community Health Nurses In Emergency And Obstetric Care
The project aim: The project specifically aims to improve the quality of maternal and child care at the primary level of health care (community level and health posts). The concept is to build the capacity of community health nurses who are of vital importance Project Date From: 2018-till date
Training of Community Health Workers in Emergency Delivery Program
2004-2016 (the organization trained about 1, 850 practicing but untrained traditional birth attendants in the Volta Region and Northern Regions respectively) The project aim is to improve maternal and child health care at the community grassroots level.
Training Of Community Health Workers In Basic Midwifery Practices
Mamacare-Ghana, with ACWW-UK funding and Ghana Health Service collaboration, trains community health workers in basic midwifery to improve maternal and child healthcare.
